NAME OF THE GAME: The Bottle Tops
OTHER NAMES: The “huitos”, the bottle tops race, cycling race.
NUMBER OF PLAYERS: From 2 to 6.
AGE: For Primary Education.
SEX: It’s more popular among boys. Of course, girls can also play.
PLACE: Open air, on land or sand.
MATERIAL: bottle tops or stones from peaches.
DESCRIPTION: a path ( 15 centimetres wide ) is drawn with two parallel lines.
This path must have a start line and a finishing line, forbidden areas and
obstacles. The players put the bottle tops in the start line and in turns each
player hit his/her bottle top once with a finger ( index finger or thumb ).
The bottle top must go along the path without going outside it. The winner
is whose bottle top arrives first.
RULES : The player whose bottle top goes out of the path must start again from
the start line. You can’t drag your bottle top with the finger you only
can hit it. During the race, a player can try hitting the bottle top of another
player to put it out of the path, this would mean than this player should start
again from the start line.
OTHER WAYS OF PLAYING:
1. You can also play the bottle tops with a board placed on the floor ( or
a pitch drawn on it ) with two goals each side. Something with a round size
like a pea or a coin is used as a ball and it is called football with bottle
tops.
2. Other option is as follow: each player complete all the path and the winner
is whose
number of hits is less. It is called cycling race.
HISTORY AND ANECDOTES: In the beginning this game was played with stones from
fruits, then it was changed by bottle tops. The children used to play in the
streets and parks. They decorate the bottle tops with stickers of professional
runners.
