The England goalkeeper, Paul Robinson was born in Beverley in 1979. First he played for Leeds United before joining Tottenham Hotspur in May 2004. He played in the Champions League semi-finals in 2001.
He has played more than 30 times for England and he has also scored two goals in the premiership.

Matthew Hoggard was born in Yorkshire in 1976. He is a right arm fast bowler.  He plays cricket for Yorkshire and England.
Matthew Hoggard is a specialist orthodox swing bowler, and usually takes the new ball for England in Test cricket. Hoggard's primary role in the team is to use the shine on the new ball to test the technique of top-order batsmen against the swinging delivery.

Richard Horme plays Rugby League for Hull FC. Richard is one of the finest players to come out of Hull for many decades. He usually plays at scrum-half although he can cover every position in the back line. His ability to stand up opposing defenders is second to none and his pace often leads to an abundance of line breaks and try scoring opportunities. In 2006 he played 32 games, scoring 18 tries in all competitions. He equaled the club’s all-time try scoring record by touching down in 11 straight games and made one appearance for Great Britain in the end of season Tri-Nations.
